We are Juliet and Matthew Maguire, a husband-and-wife team, living and working in London, with a strong connection to the world of journalism. They’ve been running their Second Mentions account on X/Twitter since 2013, building up a devoted following.

Juliet began working in news in 2008, as a reporter and editor at university, local and national newspapers - and currently works as a product manager. Matthew has worked in sport for more than 15 years. We share a passion for finding examples of elegant variation in global media. Juliet’s favourite second mentions include “the cod digits” and “the porcine-poultry hybrid”, aka fish fingers and sausage rolls, while Matthew loves it any time a pig is referred to as a “porker”.
